Sustainability Overview

Sustainability is an important value at the 2M Group of Companies and is central to our long-term business success.

We are committed to ensuring that our activities contribute to a better world for future generations, while supporting sustainable growth across our operations, though ESG Initiatives.

Our Approach

The 2M Group of Companies strives to achieve this by considering all aspects of what makes a successful and sustainable business.

At 2M we:

  • Adapt our strategy to support sustainable growth and positive change
  • Have aligned with the UN Global Compact on our chosen its Eight Principles
  • Embedded circular economy principles by minimising waste and maximising the reuse of materials throughout our value chain.
  • Work to reduce our carbon footprint and improve environmental performance
  • Engage with partners such as Ecovadis to
    – Assess the impact of our activities on people and the environment
    – Work collaboratively with suppliers to promote sustainable practices and responsible sourcing across our value chain.

From social sustainability to environmental responsibility, we are contributing to a healthier world today and for the future.

Generated 151.8 MWh of renewable energy (Apr 2023 – May 2025), offsetting 35.7 tCO₂e, equivalent to avoiding 136,000 miles of petrol car travel. Additional solar installations currently in early design phase

2M Manufacturing Energy Efficiency Project

Gas boiler optimisation reduced consumption by 329 MWh in 12 months, enough to power 122 UK households annually.

Sustainable Distribution

We work closely with logistics partners to measure and reduce Scope 3 emissions from transport

  • Collaboration with Schenk introduced Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil (HVO), achieving a 26.6% emissions reduction for 2M Water Treatment in 2024/25
  • Expanded HVO rollout with XPO Logistics, our largest transport partner to support further reductions.
  • As a result, 2M achieved 41% reduction in UK transport-related Scope 3 emissions in 2024/25

Circular Waste & Reuse Systems

A core part of 2M’s approach is supporting a circular economy by:

  • Keeping materials in use for longer
  • Reducing reliance on single-use packaging
  • Minimising waste generation across operations

We are transitioning away from linear “use-and-dispose” models by embedding reuse and closed-loop systems.

Across business units including Banner Chemicals and 2M Water Treatment, we operate structured return programmes for:

  • IBCs
  • drums
  • containers

These systems support waste reduction targets and improved resource efficiency.

Solvent Circularity

Banner Chemicals offer the Solvecare™ Solvent Handling System a closed-loop solvent system which reduces:

  • spills
  • vapour exposure
  • contamination

Enables safe, efficient solvent and packaging returns for reuse

Green Packaging

We are advancing sustainable packaging by:

  • Reducing reliance on virgin plastics
  • Increasing recycled content
  • Supporting low-carbon material innovation

Key achievements:

  • AdBlue small packs: 30% recycled plastic
  • “Green layer” IBCs: 30% recycled content
  • This project has Saved 23,326 kg of plastic and 36,553 kg CO₂ in 2025

The 2M Group of Companies is built on trust and integrity, a vision shared by our stakeholders. We have zero appetite for non-ethical business practices, reflecting our responsibility to global security and human rights.

Organisational Structure

Materiality Assessment

The 2M Group of Companies has undertaken a double materiality assessment in line with appropriate reporting standards to determine how our activities impact society and the environment, and how these issues impact our business.

In this assessment, the Sustainability Working Group identified 43 potential ESG topics, of which 15 were classified as material and integrated into our corporate sustainability strategy.

To ensure robust stakeholder input, we conducted a Sustainability Materiality Survey, with responses informing the Stakeholder Relevance score, while feedback from investors and senior leadership, gathered through our Enterprise Risk Management system, informed the Business Impact score.

This double materiality matrix supports KPI setting, prioritisation, and ESG strategy implementation, forming the foundation of 2M’s first materiality assessment. We will update this assessment periodically.

Key Material Topics

Our material ESG priorities include:

Biodiversity, water use, circular economy, waste management, climate strategy, sustainable product R&D, product stewardship, sustainable procurement, risk management, cybersecurity, ethics & governance, diversity & inclusion, people development & training, occupational health & safety, and STEM & community development.

Sustainability Policies

We have strengthened our policies under the umbrella of sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR). These are consolidated within our CSR & Governance Policy Handbook, available on the 2M website.

Business Ethics & Sustainable Procurement

The 2M Group is committed to zero-tolerance policies regarding bribery, corruption, fraud, and engagement with financially sanctioned countries or individuals.

We uphold the highest standards of data protection, cybersecurity, and digital transparency, supported by a dedicated cybersecurity team, a comprehensive Information Security Policy, and a Cyber Incident Response Plan (CIRP).

Our operations follow open and fair competition principles and comply fully with anti-trust laws, guided by our Fair Competition Policy.

We strictly prohibit child labour, human trafficking, and modern slavery within our operations and supply chain. All suppliers must undergo audit and approval processes and confirm adherence to our standards by signing our Code of Conduct.

Our Commitment

Integrity, transparency, and accountability are at the core of our business. We maintain a zero tolerance approach to unethical practices, reinforcing our commitment to sustainable growth, ethical governance, and global responsibility.

UNGC

2M is signatory to the UN Global Compact, the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative to align strategy with universal principles on human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption.

Through our double materiality assessment, 2M has identified 8 of the UN Sustainable Development goals which are highly material to our business – we aim to prioritise improvement in these areas.

The 2M Group of Companies are committed to Responsible Care® – the chemical industry’s commitment to continual improvement in health, safety, security and environmental performance.

We strive for year-on-year improvement on our annual indices of performance in order to reduce reportable injuries, environmental incidents, dangerous occurrences, enforcement actions and to reduce waste and environmental impact.
