Annual increase in the ratio of sustainable products in our portfolio.

Of CO2 emissions removed from our operations by 2028, 10% decrease compared to a 2023 baseline.

2M Group sets and reviews environmental objectives at a group, business and site level, and reviews these annually via our certifications to ISO 14001:2015.

Sustainable Infrastructure

By 2024, our forklift electrification project will remove 24,000 kilograms of equivalent carbon dioxide pollution, (CO2e) which is equivalent to planting 975 trees per year. 

2M Group have installed an efficient ‘wood pellets from waste’ steam boiler at our Stowlin distribution site to remove the need for using diesel oil in production. 

Solar Panels installed at the Surfachem Deutschland site have generated 189,780 kWh over 2 years. This has offset the release of 36,700 kg CO2e to atmosphere, the equivalent of 21 long haul flights from London to Sydney. 

2M Group are currently in the design stage for several solar panel installation projects at our UK and EU sites.

Transport – Emission Reduction

Some of our hauliers are working with us to help determine our resultant Scope 3 emissions from UK transport.

These hauliers have a number of emissions reduction projects in place, for example Suttons, who are partially replacing diesel with the use of Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil (HVO) for our 2M Water Treatment business.

Product Innovation

2M Group has recently signed a deal with Xampla to develop business opportunities in the packaging space with a portfolio of plastic free, bio-derived coatings (under brand name Morro®).

Adblue small packs now contain >30% recycled plastic.

Key packaging suppliers such as Schutz are now offering IBCs with >30% recycled plastic, and we are looking into projects for the purchasing of ‘green IBCs’ across the business.

Pigmentan® offers anti-corrosion protection based on green technology and replacing the use of zinc and heavy metals.

CleanAirBlue® is a solution for diesel engines that helps capture nitrous oxide exhaust and remove harmful emissions from the environment.

2M Water Treatment offers an extensive range of speciality ingredients that help provide clean and safe water.

  • 2M Group provides enhanced paternity and maternity leave above the statutory minimum requirement.
  • 2M Group employees have life insurance and critical illness insurance cover for all staff so that they are financially secure should they hit difficult times.
  • 2M Group working to provide free counselling to ensure mental health support is in place for all employees when needed.
  • 2M Group introduced the ‘Active Teams’ initiative, providing all employees with a smart watch and access to a group coach in order to try and reach our target of all employees doing 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week.
  • 2M Group has trained numerous people in the organisation as mental health first aiders and menopause champions, in order to give those who may be struggling someone to talk to.

Materiality Assessment

2M Group has undertaken a double materiality assessment in line with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and associated European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) to determine how our activities impact society and the environment, and vice versa.

Sustainability Policies

The 2M Group has added to its list of policies falling under the umbrella definitions of sustainability and CSR. Many of these have been combined into a single ‘CSR & Governance Policy Handbook’ which is available on the 2M website.

Sustainable Procurement

2M Group are dedicated to developing partnerships with suppliers who share our principles of ethical trading and social responsibility.

To aid in this, we subscribe to the EcoVadis sustainable procurement programme, which allows us to request and view our suppliers’ EcoVadis assessments and work with them to improve areas of weakness.

Business Ethics

The 2M Group of Companies is proudly committed to zero-tolerance policies concerning bribery, corruption, fraud, and engaging in any way with financially sanctioned countries and individuals.

Recognising the importance of data protection, the 2M Group is also dedicated to the highest standards of cybersecurity and digital transparency.

The 2M Group of Companies carries out an annual EcoVadis assessment at group level, using improvement points following each assessment to make improvements to the sustainability programme in the organisation.

In May 2023, the 2M Group of Companies achieved a Silver medal in sustainability, placing us in the top 10% of companies for our sustainability effort.

Founded in 2004, the not-for-profit organisation RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) has united more than 4,000 stakeholders worldwide, from producers to finished consumer goods on the shelves.

RSPO members are committed to producing, sourcing and using certified, sustainable palm oil.

2M is signatory to the UN Global Compact, the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative to align strategy with universal principles on human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption.

Through our double materiality assessment, 2M has identified 8 of the UN Sustainable Development goals which are highly material to our business – we aim to prioritise improvement in these areas.
