2M King’s Award presentation by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Cheshire, Lady Redmond

On Wednesday 16th October 2024, the 2M Group of Companies proudly welcomed the Lord-Lieutenant of Cheshire, Lady Redmond, to our Runcorn Headquarters for a very special celebration.

The event marked the presentation of the prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise, honouring our excellence in international trade and commemorating the 20th anniversary of the 2M Group of Companies. This day was a true testament to the hard work and dedication of every member of the 2M Group, filled with moments of pride, gratitude, and celebration and was a wonderful gathering of 2M employees, suppliers, partners, and friends of the company, all coming together to mark this significant achievement. Joining Lady Redmond was Sir Phil Redmond and Robin Robert LVO, Lieutenancy Officer, who helped us to celebrate the occasion further.

The King’s Award for Enterprise is a prestigious accolade recognising UK businesses excelling in four areas: Innovation, International Trade, Sustainable Development, and Promoting Opportunity through Social Mobility. The King’s Award came in recognition of the significant export growth by the 2M Group of Companies and in appreciation of the group’s investment in young people’s access to a career in STEM, in the form of the 2M STEM programme, founded in 2016.

Our commitment to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) initiatives has been central to our mission. Since the launch of the 2M STEM programme in 2016, we have been dedicated to inspiring the next generation of scientists and industry leaders. Through hands-on learning, outreach activities in schools, and our support of early-career development, we are actively contributing to the future of the UK’s scientific and industrial sectors. This focus on STEM not only strengthens the 2M Group but also ensures a skilled and innovative workforce for the industry as a whole.

The support of the Department for Business and Trade has been instrumental on our journey to receiving the King’s Award. Their guidance and expertise have helped us navigate complex export landscapes and strengthen international partnerships. Their ongoing support has been a key driver in our success and a crucial part of our ability to grow and innovate on a global scale.

Dr Maggie Kessler said “As we celebrate both the tremendous honour of receiving the King’s Award and 20 years of success for the 2M Group, these milestones are a testament to our shared dedication, achievements, and commitment to the future. Together, we look forward to advancing not only our business but also making a lasting impact on the chemical industry and contributing to the growth of the British economy.”
