2M Group Wins Chemicals Northwest Operational Excellence Award 2021 and Manufacturing Company of the Year

Chemicals Northwest has chosen the 2M Group of Companies as its Operational Excellence winner 2021 and Manufacturing Company of the Year.

When the pandemic struck, the 2M Group of Companies wanted to help frontline workers and our local communities. From idea to manufacture in 10 days, we started to make hand sanitiser, anchoring expertise from across many teams and sites across the 2M family.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, the 2M Group of Companies has donated over 20,000 bottles of hand sanitiser to nurses, ambulance crew, postal workers, food bank volunteers, teachers, and many more frontline workers.

This project kickstarted an operational transformation, enabling us to manufacture whatever is required to support our local communities. We have since acquired a manufacturing facility (2MM Manufacturing in Milton Keynes) which will help us expand our production capabilities. In addition to donations, we are selling our patent-pending hand sanitiser formulation to support institutions as they look to reopen in upcoming months.

“Above all, receiving these awards is testament to two things: One, That the team spirit at the 2M Group of Companies persevered stronger than ever, driving us to do something completely new at a time when much of the world outside was frozen at the heart of the crisis. This is recognition of the teams’ efforts and the honour is rightfully theirs. Two, that chemicals are at the heart of keeping people safe and healthy and 2M will always use them as a cause for good. Science undoubtedly saves lives. I am so proud that the 2M Group of Companies has been able to play a role in supporting key workers and preventing the spread of the coronavirus.

I would also like to thank our partners, without whom we would not have been able to implement and maintain the hand sanitiser manufacture. Our raw material suppliers including; Lubrizol, Stepan, Evonik, Solvay, INEOS Solvents and Alcodis made sure that we had enough materials to manufacture, as did Grants, who played a key part. SJ Barrick and Patefields provided the logistic expertise to maintain our distribution network.” said Mottie Kessler, Chairman and CEO of the 2M Group of Companies.

A year into the pandemic, we stand by our values, and are proud to have embraced our vision of delivering chemistry-based solutions for a healthier life today and a better world tomorrow.

We are also proud to have helped children get back into sport safely, by providing hand sanitiser to local youth clubs at critical times when they reopened in Summer 2020.
